Suzuki to acquire Kanadevia’s all-solid-state battery business

Suzuki Motor has agreed to acquire Kanadevia Corporation’s all-solid-state lithium-ion battery business under a transfer agreement effective 1 July 2026. Kanadevia, an industrial and engineering company based in Osaka, Japan, began developing all-solid-state lithium-ion batteries in 2006. The business being transferred includes activities related to technology development, design and sales of all-solid-state lithium-ion batteries. Following completion of the deal, Suzuki will take over the technologies developed by Kanadevia.

Stanley Electric to buy Iwasaki Electric for Y70.29bn

Japanese automotive lighting and electronics group Stanley Electric has agreed to acquire Tokyo-based Iwasaki Electric in a deal valued at Y70.29bn ($456m). The board-approved transaction involves Stanley purchasing 278,331 shares, giving it full voting control of the company. Stanley said that it chose to acquire Iwasaki Electric to expand its lighting business across automotive applications, municipal infrastructure, industrial facilities, and commercial buildings.

JTEKT moves to divest European operations

Japanese steering systems manufacturer JTEKT has agreed a put option with LEO III.-VV25-A for the sale of its European automotive business. The proposed transaction covers all shares in seven consolidated subsidiaries involved in automotive components manufacturing and sales to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). The businesses involved span multiple regions, including JTEKT Europe in Irigny and Chevigny-Saint-Sauveur and JTEKT Column Systems France in Valentigney.

Uber to acquire SpotHero and launch autonomous solutions suite

US-based Uber Technologies has agreed to acquire parking reservation platform SpotHero for an undisclosed sum. Founded in 2011, SpotHero runs a parking reservation marketplace covering more than 13,000 garages, lots and valet locations across over 400 cities in the US and Canada. After the transaction closes, Uber intends to embed SpotHero’s functionality within its app.
