new systems for enhanced automobile SAFETY
In this, our fifth issue, we take a look at the rapidly changing field of automotive safety systems. Since the advent of the first three-point safety belt in 1959, technological advances have been key to making automobile use safer and tackling the huge human costs that result from road traffic accidents.
We consider the major technological developments in passive and active safety systems, with particular reference to the proliferating advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) that are increasingly fitted as standard equipment. We also have a report summarising supplier exhibitions and the latest tech showcased at the annual CES show that took place earlier in the year.
